Anyone who worked at Disney Feature Animation over the past forty years knew who Vance Gerry was. Very few actually got to see his work before it was shipped off to the archives.

Fortunately, the geek in me started making copies of his work and instead of sitting in a folder in my personal archive I want to share these drawings with as many people as possible. If you look long enough at these drawings and paintings you will be able to see the kind, funny, humble and generous man that was Vance Gerry.

Mystery Drawing

For a short time Vance was working on so many projects for the "Creative Executives" I could not keep clear what was for what. This one I have no idea what it was for. Any ideas out there?

  1. Are they escaping to Witch Mountain?

  2. I think it was his anger about that s t u p i d ZORRO + DONKEY project, he called in the army to shoot it down. these 'idea-executives' asked me to do some work on it too. man...

  3. I was often amazed how well Vance could restrain his anger at the morons he worked for. I was lucky enough to escape to Pixar for a number of years.

  4. I always admired his ability to sit down and produce a small stack of wonderful drawings for people who had less talent than a paper weight.

  5. Nice picture. Thanks for your nice work.
